Summer Scrambled Questions
Tuesday Jul 07, 2015
Tuesday Jul 07, 2015
Hopefully this podcast finds everyone successfully recovering from their Fourth of July festivities and enjoying a solid off-season. It's been a while since we podded so we went crowd sourcing for your questions that we could spend some time answering. Before we got to the questions though, we had to take care of some Marquette news and notes. First, former Marquette basketball players are getting PAID, maybe even enough to fund a wing of the new arena. Speaking of, we talk a little news on the arena and try to calm everyone's angst over the deal. Then lastly we talked about Sam Hauser committing, which was clearly caused by us podding. So now we get to the Scrambled Questions, of which there were a lot so thanks to the fans. We cover a little bit of everything, line-ups, should we just jump off a bridge now, Henry Ellenson - Savior or mere hero, and what does the strategy look like for both ends of the floor. Enjoy the pod, have a great summer and get ready for the season only ~90 days to the start of the season.

Checking in on the offseason
Sunday May 17, 2015
Sunday May 17, 2015
It's been a while since we podded so we come back to check in on the off season. First we talk about the new commit of 2015 (that we knew of at the time, more on that later), Andrew Rowsey. Next we discuss the status of the Bucks stadium deal, which has a significant impact on Marquette in future seasons. We then transition to some rule discussion, I know, hot stuff. We then talk Marquette and the NBA to close out the pod. I told you the off season.
Editors note: This pod was recorded 2 hours before Sam Hauser committed to Marquette. All jokes and references to Marquette getting a commit within 24 hours of the podcast being posted were recorded prior to his commitment.....just thought you should know what geniuses you are dealing with.

The season has been a grind to say the least, but the first in the Wojo era is now over and we need to talk about. We spend a little time talking about the Big East tournament, but not too much because there wasn't a lot new there. We then talk relatively surprising news, the transfer of Steve Taylor Jr to parts unknown. Since the season is over we have to talk about how this news impacts next year's team and vent a little disappointment. Speaking of disappointment, we talk about the Big East performance in March Madness. We try to put it in perspective for Marquette short and long term and why we should all be Musketeer fans. Lastly, we close out with a few odds and ends like Marquette in Italy this summer. Cleanse yourself of the season and give a listen while we are hopefully celebrating a Badger loss.

Finally, the season is almost here

We are less than two weeks away from the start of the season, if you count an exhibition game as the start of the season(we all know the selection committee counts them). Since we are so close, and neither of us will be around for the month of November, we decided it was time to review the schedule and predict every result. Neither of us are particularly optimistic but we aren't paid to predict anything so our opinions probably don't count for much. After we go through the schedule top to bottom, we transition to discussing the starting line-up and some of the distribution of minutes that will need to happen for MU to be successful. Lastly, we turn to a podcast gimmick in which we create fake pre-season awards and then arbitrarily give them to players....trust me it's podcast gold Jerry!

Embrace the Madness (and tall gentlemen from Rice Lake)
Sunday Oct 12, 2014
Sunday Oct 12, 2014
We start out with the obvious, welcoming MU's newest recruit(and most important in the last 20 years), Henry Ellenson. We try to temper expectations but can't help ourselves. We then transition to some interesting observations from Jon Rothstein who was at practice on the 8th. We discuss what his observations mean and if they make sense. Lastly, we turn to Marquette Madness and discuss whether it tells us almost nothing or absolutely nothing.

Unexpectedly busy Tuesday

The pod signal went up, so here we are. Once of sounds like he's calling on a Campbell soup can, but hopefully you'll survive because we have a lot to talk about. It was a hectic Tuesday, with the new AD announced and then the complete schedule rolled out. We are barely qualified to talk about basketball so we certainly aren't qualified to vet an AD hire....doesn't mean we don't try. While not a complete, in-depth analysis of the schedule, we spend a little time talking about our overall impressions. We also decided to put our "optimism" hats on(surprised we could find them) to discuss what things could happen that would result in a positive experience this season. Lastly, we turn to recruiting, welcoming Haanif Cheatham, the latest MU player that will have his name misspelled and mispronounced for the next four years, That leads into a general recruiting discussion which includes the 900 pound gorilla in the MU recruiting room. Oh and #bringDraketoMadness

Let's just admit we're all rusty at this and we'll get through it

It's been a couple of months since your ears have been blessed with the Scrambled Eggs podcast, so it's time to rectify that. We may have been on vacation but we're hoping it's not too noticeable. So where to start? A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks, but we start with the non-conference schedule and what that looks like within the scope of the team at present. We then transition into a roster discussion, including some of the additions and lack of transfers that will shape the team this season. That leads to a discussion of expectations for the season....spoiler alert, we're not sure what to think. The season will be shaped by the new staff Wojo has put together so we talk about that as well. Lastly, we talk about recruiting and just a hint of Buzz hating. Shake the rust off with us.

The Wojo era begins
Thursday Apr 03, 2014
Thursday Apr 03, 2014
To borrow from a favorite cartoon show of ours....yeah, MU fans, that month sure sucked last month. March just plain sucked.
I've seen months suck before but March was the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. So we quickly pivot from that to the dawning Wojo era. Side note, I can't spell words let alone Wojciechowski, so Wojo will be the nom de guerre for Scrambled Eggs. Anyway, we talk Wojo, what we think his impact on MU will be and what are our expectations. We walk through some of the reasons to like the hire despite Phil's and some fan's initial reluctance. We also talk about the current players, if they stay, and some very interesting quotes that came out. Lastly we talk incoming recruits and the new university president. So we welcome our new basketball overlord in Coach Wojo and wish him the best of luck!

Buzz is gone, let's have a little therapy about it
Saturday Mar 22, 2014
Saturday Mar 22, 2014
Not much to say in this rundown. We talk about the relatively shocking news that Buzz Williams is no longer the head coach at MU and the even more shocking news that he went to Backwater Virgina....I mean Blacksburg, Virgina (spelling is hard) to do it. After a very long discussion about what happened with rampant speculation and unfounded conclusions we pivot to what does Marquette do next and what is the impact on the current players/recruits. We do think this can turn out positively for Marquette, but it's going to be a lot of angst. Buckle up, the ride has only just begun.

Finally we get to watch some basketball instead of just talking about

You're looking live at Marquette basketball in the Bradley Center! (all credit to Mr. Musburger) The Scrambled Eggs crew is very excited to finally see some actual basketball played. We touch on the opening two games, Southern and Grambling, what we want to see and what we expect. Based on the opponent quality we move pretty quickly to predictions on the season and the roster. We discuss starting line-up, especially given an article written by the beat report of the local paper of record(Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). We then make some predictions on the players themselves, where one of us may or may not go off the reservation a little bit. We close out on the whereabouts of former Marquette players. Buckle in, the season is on the way.
