Scrambled Eggs - Marquette Basketball Two unqualified fans talking about Marquette basketball. This is a weekly podcast about all things related to Marquette basketball from the common fans’ perspective.

You are looking live, at least live to tape as both of us were in Milwaukee for the senior day festivities and final regular season game. So we recorded a podcast to discuss the game and where we stand for the NCAA tournament. First, we discuss the game against Creighton and JjJ's big first half, how nervous we got in the second half, and of course the Luke Fischer proposal. Then it's time to talk NCAA tournament chances, with both of us feeling pretty confident we're in regardless of the Big East Tournament results. However, we do have to talk about the Big East tournament and the 2nd round match up of Marquette against Seton Hall. After talking about the Big East tournament and the NCAA tournament we talk about the All Big East team and bemoan the lack of Marquette players on the list and question the fact that Markus Howard was not a unanimous freshmen All Big East selection. Let's get a win on Thursday to remove all doubt but we should probably get our dancing shoes ready. Enjoy!

Marquette's 99th regular season campaign has drawn to a close and we are left with the question now what. We discuss the deflating Butler game, officiating, Henry's health and why that was such difficult loss from a post season standpoint. We also discuss the Georgetown result, the excitement of which feels long ago, but we do talk a little Traci Carter and how significant his improvement has been. We then talk post season, first the Big East tournament hopes and then what the NIT prospects are when the likely happens and Marquette doesn't win the whole Big East tournament. Finally, we wrap up with another pitch for the great #mubb tshirt that is being sold for a great cause, link is here:

Well, the tone of this podcast has certainly changed in the last number of hours we're too lazy to calculate, lets just call it a week.  Legitimately concerned about a 1-2 finish in the Orlando Classic, the previous podcast was filled with doom and gloom.  However after seeing, ya know, the team actually play the games, we are decidedly more upbeat.  We discuss the results of the Orlando Classic and how impressed we were by the coaching staff making changes to the plan based on previous results.  That's a slight change from the previous regime.  We then discuss the players themselves and who's impressed and what has made the biggest impact on the performance in Orlando.  Lastly, we turn to the big angry elephant in the room, the showdown with Bucky in the Bradley Center.  We kick off #badgerhateweek with our general overview of how the game is going to go, and then what has to happen in an ideal world for Marquette to get the win.  Lastly, we go on a mini-rant, because we are filled with hate, about some evil maniacs twitter idea, #sconniepact.  Sit back, listen, and let us fill you with BadgerHate

To borrow from a favorite cartoon show of ours....yeah, MU fans, that month sure sucked last month. March just plain sucked. I've seen months suck before but March was the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.  So we quickly pivot from that to the dawning Wojo era.  Side note, I can't spell words let alone Wojciechowski, so Wojo will be the nom de guerre for Scrambled Eggs.  Anyway, we talk Wojo, what we think his impact on MU will be and what are our expectations.  We walk through some of the reasons to like the hire despite Phil's and some fan's initial reluctance.  We also talk about the current players, if they stay, and some very interesting quotes that came out.  Lastly we talk incoming recruits and the new university president.  So we welcome our new basketball overlord in Coach Wojo and wish him the best of luck!

Not much to say in this rundown.  We talk about the relatively shocking news that Buzz Williams is no longer the head coach at MU and the even more shocking news that he went to Backwater Virgina....I mean Blacksburg, Virgina (spelling is hard) to do it.  After a very long discussion about what happened with rampant speculation and unfounded conclusions we pivot to what does Marquette do next and what is the impact on the current players/recruits.  We do think this can turn out positively for Marquette, but it's going to be a lot of angst.  Buckle up, the ride has only just begun.

As the title indicates, we're exhausted and we think you are exhausted around MU basketball this season, but we'll get through this together on the podcast.  Obviously we have to talk about the stomach punch games and deja vu that were the Providence and St John's game.  They were very tough games, and yet more games we could have won but maybe shouldn't have been in a position to win.  We then pivot from there to the Senior Day "festivities" and our impression of such things.  Lastly, we spend a fair amount of time discussing the Big East tournament and potential match ups.  We even try to be positive and create a path for MU to get to the championship and maybe sneak into the NCAA tournament, but to say it is a stretch is being unfair to this guy.

Unfortunately, the Villanova game went exactly how we feared it would.  So after this past week, Marquette is 1-1 with no signature win on the season and very much looking from the outside of the bubble.  We break down the game for what it's worth and touch on the Georgetown game a little bit.  We then transition to what should be obvious, Marquette needs some serious luck and a conference tournament run to make the NCAA tournament.  We don't think it likely but supposedly there is a chance.  That discussion leads to another on schedule next year, and what the schedule should look like to help Marquette make this a one year downswing.  Next on the hit list is what to expect this week against Providence and St John's, clearly must win if MU has any chances of making the tourny.  Lastly, we spend time talking about each of the seniors and forecasting a dusty day in the Bradley Center for the senior events after the game.  Hasn't been the best of weeks, but no reason not to pod about it.

Saturday against Xavier was probably Marquette's best win of the season.  It was a solid performance from start to finish with the MU backcourt performing the best it has all season.  It also represents the third win in a row for MU and puts them into a tie for 3rd in the Big East. So hooray.  Having said all that, the fact is that Marquette is still on the outside looking in.  So we talk about the 3 game winning streak, and whether it is or will ever be safe to pull out your Jake Thomas jersey.  We also talk about the big tournament and where Marquette stands in it's pursuit of a bid.  A quick hint, it looks better than a week ago but not that great.  Lastly we talk about the upcoming Creighton game, if MU can win, and what the final 6 games means for Marquette.  It's good to be a little more positive in this podcast, we were starting to sound like Eeyore.

In the latest edition of Scrambled Eggs, we dive right into the age old question, can you have too much good Mayo?  We cover the Butler result which overshadows the dumpster fire that was the St John's loss which totally eliminated the good feeling from the Providence game which....well you get the idea.  We talk consistency or the lack thereof and how everyone should stop talking March Madness for Marquette until certain conditions are met.  We also predict the Seton Hall game.  Lastly, we spend some time discussing booing and if it's ok.  I'll give away the ending, Joe is definitely against it.  Enjoy

You watched the Villanova game and so did we.  That game was simultaneously less frustrating and more frustrating than it seemed (probably won't make more sense on the pod, but give it a go).  We breakdown the game, what went wrong, what went right, and does the result change any of our opinions.  We also dive into the long lingering brush fire on twitter/message board/interwebs/bar time that is John Dawson vs Derrick Wilson.  That discussion expands to the freshman minutes in general and Anonymous Eagle's call for more time for Dawson/Burton/JJJ.  Once we add fuel to those fires, we move on to preview Providence and St Johns, and one of us is a total negative Nancy.  The team may be down but the podcast is on the top of it's game, we even made it through without a single Seinfeld reference(we think).  Give it a listen and lets all hope for less bad days.
