Finally, the season is almost here
Sunday Oct 26, 2014
Sunday Oct 26, 2014
We are less than two weeks away from the start of the season, if you count an exhibition game as the start of the season(we all know the selection committee counts them). Since we are so close, and neither of us will be around for the month of November, we decided it was time to review the schedule and predict every result. Neither of us are particularly optimistic but we aren't paid to predict anything so our opinions probably don't count for much. After we go through the schedule top to bottom, we transition to discussing the starting line-up and some of the distribution of minutes that will need to happen for MU to be successful. Lastly, we turn to a podcast gimmick in which we create fake pre-season awards and then arbitrarily give them to players....trust me it's podcast gold Jerry!

Embrace the Madness (and tall gentlemen from Rice Lake)
Sunday Oct 12, 2014
Sunday Oct 12, 2014
We start out with the obvious, welcoming MU's newest recruit(and most important in the last 20 years), Henry Ellenson. We try to temper expectations but can't help ourselves. We then transition to some interesting observations from Jon Rothstein who was at practice on the 8th. We discuss what his observations mean and if they make sense. Lastly, we turn to Marquette Madness and discuss whether it tells us almost nothing or absolutely nothing.

Unexpectedly busy Tuesday

Wednesday Sep 10, 2014
The pod signal went up, so here we are. Once of sounds like he's calling on a Campbell soup can, but hopefully you'll survive because we have a lot to talk about. It was a hectic Tuesday, with the new AD announced and then the complete schedule rolled out. We are barely qualified to talk about basketball so we certainly aren't qualified to vet an AD hire....doesn't mean we don't try. While not a complete, in-depth analysis of the schedule, we spend a little time talking about our overall impressions. We also decided to put our "optimism" hats" on(surprised we could find them) to discuss what things could happen that would result in a positive experience this season. Lastly, we turn to recruiting, welcoming Haanif Cheathnam, the latest MU player that will have his name misspelled and mispronounced for the next four years, That leads into a general recruiting discussion which includes the 900 pound gorilla in the MU recruiting room. #bringDraketoMadness

Hold the Mayo and Pass the Scrambled Questions
Monday Aug 04, 2014
Monday Aug 04, 2014
Once again some late breaking news has sent us to the podmobile to get a podcast fired up and out to you. This time it is the unexpected but not totally surprising news that Todd Mayo is no longer with the Marquette basketball team. It is unexpected from a timing standpoint, but not unsurprising given Todd's history at MU. We choose not to spend too much time on this development and instead pivot to your questions to us in our favorite segment #scrambledquestions. We did get a lot of Mayo questions of course, but thankfully a lot of them were forward looking so we tackled the game of "what does MU do now". Ultimately we plowed through at least a half dozen of your questions and we can only hope we answered them sufficiently. Enjoy the episode and here's to hoping the emergency podsignal will stay switched off for the next couple of months.

Let's just admit we're all rusty at this and we'll get through it

It's been a couple of months since your ears have been blessed with the Scrambled Eggs podcast, so it's time to rectify that. We may have been on vacation but we're hoping it's not too noticeable. So where to start? A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks, but we start with the non-conference schedule and what that looks like within the scope of the team at present. We then transition into a roster discussion, including some of the additions and lack of transfers that will shape the team this season. That leads to a discussion of expectations for the season....spoiler alert, we're not sure what to think. The season will be shaped by the new staff Wojo has put together so we talk about that as well. Lastly, we talk about recruiting and just a hint of Buzz hating. Shake the rust off with us.

The Wojo era begins
Thursday Apr 03, 2014
Thursday Apr 03, 2014
To borrow from a favorite cartoon show of ours....yeah, MU fans, that month sure sucked last month. March just plain sucked.
I've seen months suck before but March was the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. So we quickly pivot from that to the dawning Wojo era. Side note, I can't spell words let alone Wojciechowski, so Wojo will be the nom de guerre for Scrambled Eggs. Anyway, we talk Wojo, what we think his impact on MU will be and what are our expectations. We walk through some of the reasons to like the hire despite Phil's and some fan's initial reluctance. We also talk about the current players, if they stay, and some very interesting quotes that came out. Lastly we talk incoming recruits and the new university president. So we welcome our new basketball overlord in Coach Wojo and wish him the best of luck!

Buzz is gone, let's have a little therapy about it
Saturday Mar 22, 2014

Not much to say in this rundown. We talk about the relatively shocking news that Buzz Williams is no longer the head coach at MU and the even more shocking news that he went to Backwater Virgina....I mean Blacksburg, Virgina (spelling is hard) to do it. After a very long discussion about what happened with rampant speculation and unfounded conclusions we pivot to what does Marquette do next and what is the impact on the current players/recruits. We do think this can turn out positively for Marquette, but it's going to be a lot of angst. Buckle up, the ride has only just begun.

It's been a tough 10 days for MU basketball and I've run out of clever headlines
Tuesday Mar 11, 2014

As the title indicates, we're exhausted and we think you are exhausted around MU basketball this season, but we'll get through this together on the podcast. Obviously we have to talk about the stomach punch games and deja vu that were the Providence and St John's game. They were very tough games, and yet more games we could have won but maybe shouldn't have been in a position to win. We then pivot from there to the Senior Day "festivities" and our impression of such things. Lastly, we spend a fair amount of time discussing the Big East tournament and potential match ups. We even try to be positive and create a path for MU to get to the championship and maybe sneak into the NCAA tournament, but to say it is a stretch is being unfair to this guy.

Your next entertainly depressing podcast
Sunday Mar 02, 2014
Sunday Mar 02, 2014
Unfortunately, the Villanova game went exactly how we feared it would. So after this past week, Marquette is 1-1 with no signature win on the season and very much looking from the outside of the bubble. We break down the game for what it's worth and touch on the Georgetown game a little bit. We then transition to what should be obvious, Marquette needs some serious luck and a conference tournament run to make the NCAA tournament. We don't think it likely but supposedly there is a chance. That discussion leads to another on schedule next year, and what the schedule should look like to help Marquette make this a one year downswing. Next on the hit list is what to expect this week against Providence and St John's, clearly must win if MU has any chances of making the tourny. Lastly, we spend time talking about each of the seniors and forecasting a dusty day in the Bradley Center for the senior events after the game. Hasn't been the best of weeks, but no reason not to pod about it.

Be That Mistake Marquette!
Tuesday Feb 25, 2014
Tuesday Feb 25, 2014
It's another week of aghast filled Marquette basketball and so another Scrambled Eggs podcast. The podcast starts with a walk through of the Creighton game and how disappointed the fan base. We also discuss Phil's story of Creighton fan's getting kicked out the Bradley Center. We next move on to the almost DeBacle at DePaul. The All State arena is always an MU house of horrors, this time it almost exceeded all previous instances. In fact, we debate two plays that might just be Marquette's season in microcosm. We then move on to the oft-discussed NCAA tournament and Marquette's chances. That's were Joe coins a phrase that we will ride into the ground and the genesis of this post's title. Lastly we discuss the next two games on the schedule (Georgetown and Villanova) to determine what Marquette needs to do to end the season. If you are going to make a mistake listening to any podcast, we want to be that mistake!
