Scrambled Eggs is still in quarantine but that doesn't mean we can't pod
Monday Apr 13, 2020
Monday Apr 13, 2020
The season ended really weird and we really haven't had the chance to talk about it. We get together and first discuss the end of what was shaping up to be a disappointing season for #mubb. We then talk about the Markus Howard era, what we'll remember and what Markus' legacy will be in the coming years. That conversation leads to yet another discussion of Wojo the coach, and what options Marquette really had given the financial state of affairs given the impact Covid-19 is having of society. We also talk the departure of Stan Johnson and the return of Justin Gainey. We close out the pod with a quick examination of the recruiting trail for Wojo, the players in the transfer market and what MU needs/wants right now. Generally, we keep it light so let's hope you enjoy!

Now that was a great National Marquette Day
Monday Feb 10, 2020
Monday Feb 10, 2020
The game against Butler was for National Marquette Day and boy did the team deliver. We deep dive on one of, if not the most, complete games of this season with the impressive win over nationally ranked Butler. Marquette has now won 6 of their last 7 and is starting to look like a team that can do some damage in March. We also talk about the Markus Howard campaign for NPOY and the "quiet" performance he had against Butler. We then talk about the only game coming up this next week, a road clash with a somewhat reeling Villanova team. As always, enjoy!

MU is in a good place enough though some seem to think otherwise

Hey, look at that #mubb has won two in a row and 5 out of the last 6...in the Big East no less, that's good! We first dive into the kooky Xavier game and break down what happened including the Markus injury. Then one of us goes off on a tirade before we discuss the always weird DePaul game. We then talk Big East outlook and the upcoming rematch with Butler on National Marquette Day. Finally we talk about the drama in Madison and the possibility of turning a red peg blue. Enjoy!

We've got analysis AND data so buckle up
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
It's been a really weird 72 hours in #mubb and generally for basketball but we got to get into it. We start off with a discussion of Kobe Bryant's passing and its impact on basketball. We then turn to the extremely strange ending to the Butler game and the fact that Wojo had the most head scratching 8 minutes of coaching since....the Providence game. We also discuss the 2nd half performance of Markus Howard after #chairgate. Both of these things lead us to ask: does Wojo panic at the end of games and is Markus "clutch"? This discussion involves real life data, I know crazy. We then turn to the week ahead to forecast MU's chance to get a road Big East victory and the unexpected return of #JustDon'tLoseToDePaul. Enjoy!

OK, let's relax a little.....but not too much
Tuesday Jan 21, 2020
Tuesday Jan 21, 2020
#mubb had a good week and we need to acknowledge that. Now that the conference season is 33.3% complete, we discuss any surprises or revelations we see in the Big East and how it might impact Marquette. We then talk the week that was with a specific focus on the continued otherworldiness of Markus Howard. Bottom line appreciate him while you still can. We then talk games this week, like why we shouldn't be scared of St John's this time around and if Butler is a wounded and therefore even more dangerous animal. Enjoy!

If you thought we were cocky before
Monday Feb 25, 2019
Monday Feb 25, 2019
It's a bit jarring if you think about it, but from the jump we're talking about hanging banners. The background, Nova lost again over the weekend giving MU the chance to win a share of the Big East title on Wednesday night against Villanova. So we spend a while talking about what that feels like and what happens if MU can go into a dangerous environment and beat the current kings of the Big East. We then talk about the game itself and whether we are finally starting to feel confident enough that a road win against Villanova is now more likely than not. We then talk about the Creighton game and whether it is a trap game or just another game we should all be vigilant but relaxed about. We also spend some time talking about what kind of monster wants a Big East Tournament title versus a regular season title. All in all, we are pretty stoked for the closing days of the regular season and the possibility that next week we are talking about your Big East champions, Marquette. Enjoy!

Optimistic Scrambled Eggs is back!
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Call them ugly wins, but they are still wins and we've got 7 in a row and 15 out 16 of them. We talk about the latest wins against DePaul and Xavier, and our take aways, including the confidence in late game situations. There is some discussion of rankings, both voted and calculated, and the current tournament implications for the team. We then talk about about the next 3 games MU plays because we likely won't have a pod next week (silly vacations) so we break down the Butler, St Johns, and Villanova games. We project forward what we think the record will be, and lets just saw we've found our lost optimism. Tough set of games coming up, but if MU can pull off a 2-1 or 3-0 record they would be looking pretty, pretty, pretty good. Enjoy!

It was a rough, but not unexpected week for #mubb
Monday Jan 29, 2018
Monday Jan 29, 2018
Well, it wasn't the week we were hoping for (especially against Xavier) but it also did nothing to damage #mubb tournament chances. We start with the most recent game against Villanova (most because neither one of really wanted to talk about the Xavier boondoggle). We talk about what the performance against Villanova and whether the loss is the fault of the officiating (spoiler alert, they didn't help but they weren't to blame). We also discuss why we can't get the Tres Amigios to play well at the same time. To cleanse the palate a little we highlight the continuing improvement from Harry Froling and Sacar Amin, who both had an excellent game. To wrap up the podcast we spend some time analyzing the up coming week with critical home games against Butler and Providence. We give predictions, one us thinks the team goes 2-0 and it's not who you think. As always, enjoy!

So we should probably spend some time talking about Markus Howard
Monday Jan 08, 2018
Monday Jan 08, 2018
So the week turned out exactly how we thought it would, #mubb went 1 and 1 with a win over Providence and a tough loss to Villanova, ho hum not much to talk about. Just kidding, of course we are going to carry on for 25 minutes about Markus Howard's historic 52 point performance and his equally impressive 37 points and 8 assists against Villanova. In fact, we spend time talking about where the performance against Providence ranks in modern MU single player performance pantheon. Once even we've had enough of talking about Markus, we do breakdown the Providence and Villanova games to talk about what we liked and didn't like from the games. Finally, we turn ahead to this week, which is another must go 1 and 1 week, previewing the Seton Hall and Butler games. I'd take another 89 points from Markus this week, but let's hope we don't have to for at least one win. Enjoy!

The regular season is over, now what?
Monday Mar 07, 2016
Monday Mar 07, 2016
Marquette's 99th regular season campaign has drawn to a close and we are left with the question now what. We discuss the deflating Butler game, officiating, Henry's health and why that was such difficult loss from a post season standpoint. We also discuss the Georgetown result, the excitement of which feels long ago, but we do talk a little Traci Carter and how significant his improvement has been. We then talk post season, first the Big East tournament hopes and then what the NIT prospects are when the likely happens and Marquette doesn't win the whole Big East tournament. Finally, we wrap up with another pitch for the great #mubb tshirt that is being sold for a great cause, link is here:
