#mubb had a good week and we need to acknowledge that. Now that the conference season is 33.3% complete, we discuss any surprises or revelations we see in the Big East and how it might impact Marquette. We then talk the week that was with a specific focus on the continued otherworldiness of Markus Howard. Bottom line appreciate him while you still can. We then talk games this week, like why we shouldn't be scared of St John's this time around and if Butler is a wounded and therefore even more dangerous animal. Enjoy!

Well that was kind of an easy week.

Monday Feb 18, 2019
It was an oddly anti-climatic week with no real anxiety to be found, but we'll take it. We start the discussion out with the fact that thanks to St John's off all people, Marquette controls it's own destiny in the race to the regular season title against Villanova. We talk through the scenario's and how we think MU will do down the stretch. We then talk the success of Operation Don't Lose to DePaul and how it was kind of a cakewalk which is....unusual. Next we check in on the Markus tracker to predict if he will become Marquette's all-time leading scorer this season. We then turn to the week ahead and forecast how MU will do following the buy week with two must win games if they want to keep the championship dreams alive. We close out the pod by revisiting the Henry Ellenson decision now that he has been cut by Detroit and his NBA career to be on life support. Enjoy!

Big win on National Marquette Day and almost nothing else matters to us
Monday Feb 11, 2019
Monday Feb 11, 2019
After a week hiatus because one of us decided to go skiing and drinking Colorado craft brews (but not at the same time), we come back to largely very good news. We jump right into breaking down the exciting win of Villanova on what feels like the first time in a long time that MU won on National Marquette Day. We analyze the game, how it finished, and what level of concern we had in the closing minutes. We also spend a little time talking about the St John's result which spoiled an otherwise amazing Big East run for Marquette. We then talk NCAA tournament, initial seeding, NET rankings, and how exciting it is to not be team bubble watch. We turn to the week ahead which features only one game, but it's at DePaul which has always been a house of horrors for MU, albeit at the Rosemont but still. The goal is to just not lose to a {high pitched squeaky voice} competent DePaul team. We close out the pod talking about recruits who were at the Nova game and the need to always be recruiting. Enjoy! #DLTD

Optimistic Scrambled Eggs is back!

Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Call them ugly wins, but they are still wins and we've got 7 in a row and 15 out 16 of them. We talk about the latest wins against DePaul and Xavier, and our take aways, including the confidence in late game situations. There is some discussion of rankings, both voted and calculated, and the current tournament implications for the team. We then talk about about the next 3 games MU plays because we likely won't have a pod next week (silly vacations) so we break down the Butler, St Johns, and Villanova games. We project forward what we think the record will be, and lets just saw we've found our lost optimism. Tough set of games coming up, but if MU can pull off a 2-1 or 3-0 record they would be looking pretty, pretty, pretty good. Enjoy!

Ya win some, ya lose some, and ya get a new commit

It wasn't the week of #mubb basketball we were hoping for, but it certainly could have been worse. Having returned from New Year's we work backwards as we discuss the some what disjointed victory over Xavier before spending some time picking apart the shockingly lopsided lose to St John's. We then talk about the up coming week of games, including breaking down whether there actually is something to the MU "road woes" and if it will impact the game against Creighton and if Seton Hall gives us any concern. We close out the podcast welcoming MU's newest recruit, Symir Torrence to the fold, analyzing whether he stays 2020 or reclassifies for 2019 and what all this means in terms of needs for the next couple of recruiting classes. Enjoy!

Non-conference is over and it's time for New Year's and the Big East

Monday Dec 31, 2018
Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and took a little break, we sure did but now we're back. The Buffalo game feels like it was years ago, so we touch on it but more importantly we spend time talking about Markus Howard going god-mode in the last two games and whether or not that is sustainable with the start of conference season. We then talk about the start of conference season itself, with the game against St John's on the road and Xavier at home. We analyze whether MU is prepared for St John's or if they'll struggle as they have in the past. We transition from there and re-examine our predictions on the conference season as a whole in light of what we learned about #MUBB in the non-conference season. Lastly, we discuss the recent "poll attack" discussions taking place in the twittersphere and in certain CBS sports podcasts and evaluate whether MU is over, under, or properly rated. Hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year's Eve and is ready for the start of conference season. Enjoy!

Riding the roller coaster to start the Big East
Sunday Jan 10, 2016
Sunday Jan 10, 2016
Well the Big East has been a headscratcher and we're only 2/9ths of the way through. Life got in the way of podcasting but we're back at it and no better than we've ever been. We talk about all four conference games, what they mean, why they went the way they went, and what conclusions we can draw. This leads to a debate about player performance and what player we trust the most on this Marquette team. We then transition to Henry Ellenson: Overrated, Underrated or properly rated. After that lively debate it's time to talk the very difficult week ahead for Marquette basketball with a road trip to conference leader Villanova and home game against Xavier on the docket. Finally we wrap up with a little light recruiting news. Enjoy!

Another week and another couple of tough, well fought loses. The Georgetown loss was especially tough to take given some pretty questionable calls. We spend time talking about the officiating and the team's performance in the game. We analyze this weeks performance in total and talk about what's good and what's bad. We spend some time talking about JaJaun Johnson and where his game is. We also carry on for a while about Derrick Wilson's best play as a Marquette Warrior....posterizing Paul White. We wrap up the pod talking about the next couple of games and determine if Marquette will actually get over the hump and record a win or two.

It's been a tough 10 days for MU basketball and I've run out of clever headlines
Tuesday Mar 11, 2014
Tuesday Mar 11, 2014
As the title indicates, we're exhausted and we think you are exhausted around MU basketball this season, but we'll get through this together on the podcast. Obviously we have to talk about the stomach punch games and deja vu that were the Providence and St John's game. They were very tough games, and yet more games we could have won but maybe shouldn't have been in a position to win. We then pivot from there to the Senior Day "festivities" and our impression of such things. Lastly, we spend a fair amount of time discussing the Big East tournament and potential match ups. We even try to be positive and create a path for MU to get to the championship and maybe sneak into the NCAA tournament, but to say it is a stretch is being unfair to this guy.

Your next entertainly depressing podcast

Unfortunately, the Villanova game went exactly how we feared it would. So after this past week, Marquette is 1-1 with no signature win on the season and very much looking from the outside of the bubble. We break down the game for what it's worth and touch on the Georgetown game a little bit. We then transition to what should be obvious, Marquette needs some serious luck and a conference tournament run to make the NCAA tournament. We don't think it likely but supposedly there is a chance. That discussion leads to another on schedule next year, and what the schedule should look like to help Marquette make this a one year downswing. Next on the hit list is what to expect this week against Providence and St John's, clearly must win if MU has any chances of making the tourny. Lastly, we spend time talking about each of the seniors and forecasting a dusty day in the Bradley Center for the senior events after the game. Hasn't been the best of weeks, but no reason not to pod about it.
